Save File Locations Guide – Where to Find and Install Game Saves

📁 Save File Installation Guide

Copy the save files into the folder where the game stores its data.
Most of the time, you can simply overwrite the existing files.

🎮 Save Locations by Engine

🧩 RPG Maker

  • XP / VX / VX Ace: Same folder as the game executable or a folder named “save”.

  • MV: www/save

  • MZ: “save” folder next to the executable.

  • WOLF RPG Editor: “save” folder next to the executable.


📖 TyranoScript / Visual Novels

  • Save files (.sav) sit in the same folder as the executable.


⚙️ Unity (Windows)

  • C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\LocalLow\DeveloperOrStudioName\
    👁️ AppData is hidden by default—enable “Show hidden files”.

📂 Locate the root path

  • Do not look inside the game installation folder. Progress files are stored in the Windows user profile.
    Press Win + R and type %appdata%.

🛠️ Godot (Windows)

  • C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\GameName\

📂 Locate the root path

  • Do not look inside the game installation folder. Progress files are stored in the Windows user profile.
    Press Win + R and type %appdata%.

🧾 .reg Files

If a save includes a .reg file, extract it and double-click to import the data.


🚨 Troubleshooting

  • Invalid or corrupted save:
    Rename the save folder, use shorter file names, and match the save to the game version.
